연기백 개인전 《마주하는 막》

《마주하는 막》은 주변화된 사물과 공간에 내재하는 개인의 행위를 읽어내기 위해 그것의 경계이자 또 다른 출구로서의 ‘막’에 주목하는 전시이다. 오래된 집의 벽지나 사물, 그리고 그 위에 남겨진 낙서와 같은 흔적들은 개인의 고유한 삶의 유형과 취향, 삶의 냄새와 얼룩, 더 나아가 그것이 그렇게 존재하기까지의 다양한 개인의 노동과 삶의 철학을 담아내며, 작가는 이번 전시에서 특히 어떠한 경계로서의 도배(지)에 집중한다. 벽, 그리고 그 위에 얹힌 도배지는 건축물(구조물)과 개인의 피부 사이를 중재하는 매개로써, 작가는 그것이 담아내는 예술의 소재적/시각적 특이성을 넘어 도배라는 행위 안에 담긴 개인의 삶의 궤적을 온전히 드러내고자 한다.

Act Facing Act is an exhibition that focuses on the “membrane” as a boundary and an alternate means of accessing the individual acts inherent in marginalized objects and spaces. The wallpaper, objects, and traces such as graffiti left in old houses capture the unique types and tastes of life, the smells and stains of life, and the labor and life philosophies of various individuals. The artist focuses on wallpaper as a type of boundary, mediating between architecture (structure) and the skin of the individual. The artist aims to fully reveal the trajectory of an individual’s life contained within the act of doing wallpapers, going beyond the material and visual specificity of the art it contains.
