사냥꾼이라는 또 하나의 직업을 가진 이노우에 아미는 야외 활동에 기초한 인간의 생활과 행동을 관찰 기록하는 문화기술지적(ethnography) 방법을 수단으로한 영상 기반의 창작 활동을 하고 있다. 《눈빛을 겨누다》에서는 생명을 먹는다는 것, 동일본 대지진 후의 방사선 물질의 영향 등 현대의 사냥을 통해서 “삶과 죽음”을 비춘 〈할아버지와의 공통언어〉(2016)와 총으로 동물을 쏜 순간의 경험으로부터 사냥꾼으로서의 태도를 역추적하는 〈눈빛을 겨누다〉(2017) 등을 선보였다. 작업들은 수렵 현장에서의 생생한 경험과 함께 그 대상들의 삶 속에 묻어있는 각각의 이야기를 관계적으로 고찰하며, 산재된 정보와 복잡하고 추상적인 지식을 작가의 일상 이미지 언어로 담담하게 시각화한다.

Inoue Ami, who also works as a hunter, creates video–based works that employ ethnographic methods to record observations of human life and behavior during outdoor activities. In The Piercing Eyes, she presents two works: A Common Field Between Grandpa and Me (2016), which explores the themes of “life and death” in contemporary hunting, including the consumption of hunted animals and the impact of radiation after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and The Piercing Eyes(2017), which traces her attitude as a hunter, shooting and killing an animal with a firearm. The works offer a relational examination of the subjects’ stories and lived experiences in the hunting field, while visualizing scattered information and complex and abstract knowledge through the artist’s everyday visual language.
