제10회 아마도전시기획상 《윈도우 리컨스트럭션(Windows Reconstruction)》

우리는 미디어와 언제나 함께 했다. 새로운 기술은 언제나 보다 빠른 속도로 등장하면서 인간의 역사는 이를 기반으로 발걸음을 나아갔다. 새로이 등장하는 것들은 늘 하나의 빛이 되었고, 사람들은 그것을 좇아왔다. 그리고 하드웨어에서 소프트웨어까지의 모든 발전은 우리로 하여금 그것에 맞춰서 인식 체계를 업그레이드하게 하였다. 미디어가 계속해서 발전해 나가는 중간 등장하는 버그들은 그 빛이 잠시 암전되는 모습이었다. 하지만 빠른 발전 속도로 인해 그것은 매우 짧은 순간 깜빡이는 모습이었고, 미래에 적응하기 위해서 우리에게 돌아볼 시간이 없었다. 하지만 그 깜빡임의 기저에는 근본적으로 미디어 스스로 반하는 방향으로 내파되고 있는 힘이 있었으리라.
운영체제는 눈 깜짝할 새 실시간으로 업데이트되고, 마모되는 건물은 재건축을 앞두고, 발전 속도에서 탈락되는 이들은 더 오래 눈을 감는다. 이 전시는 미디어 스스로 반하는 그 순간, 그 흘러가는 ‘시간’을 돌이켜본다.

The media has always been an integral part of our lives. The history of humankind has been developed with the new-media technologies that emerged at an ever faster and faster pace. These new technologies have become the guiding light all the time, and people have pursued that light relentlessly. With each development, from hardware to software, we have upgraded our paradigm to match it. The moment of darkness in the only light is a metaphor for the software bugs that have appeared in the midst of the continuous development of media. However, due to the fast pace, these were short flickers, and we didn’t have time to look. In this situation, there was an impulse against the media itself in an infrastructure of these flickers.
Computer operating systems are updated in an instant, worn and torn buildings are reconstructed, and those who cannot keep up with the speed of development close their eyes for a longer time. This exhibition takes a look back at the moment when the media turned against itself, it’s ‘time.’
